The Final Countdown... Week 12 update!!!

I officially turn 30 on Saturday, July 7 at 4:51am ET.  As you can tell from this blog, I've been celebrating for the past 12 weeks :).  So at Week 12, with less than 7 days to go on my journey... I'm a bundle of various emotions... I'm ecstatic, anxious, sad... Ecstatic that I'm nearing the completion of 13 weeks of pure, unadulterated fun.  Anxious that I have so many more items to complete and blog about. And sad that the challenge is nearing an end.

This past week, I completed the following:
And here's how I'm doing on the rest...
  • #6: Learn how to drive stick shift - Done, thanks to my college buddy Russell! Just need to blog about it :)
  • #9: 30 new recipes. 9 recipes left.  This past week I made two new dishes:
    • Spinach and goat cheese tart
    • General Tsos chicken
  • #16: Go on a date with a man in a uniform.  So I actually met someone in a uniform and we've been texting but it's going nowhere (what is it with you boys and texting???  Why won't you ask a girl out on a real one-on-one convo if you like us?!?).  C'mon y'all, I need single/divorced men in uniform... and I need them quick!!!
  • #24: Quit something I do a lot of for 30 days... umm... oops.  Can I change this one to "for 7 days"???
  • #29: Read 30 books.  I finished 4 books this past week for a total of 18!  I am now resorting to reading short stories, including children's books.  I have no shame.
    • Huff and Puff by Tish Rabe (yup, this one is a children's book... it took me all of 2 minutes to read... but hey, I'm practicing my reading skills for my future nephew!)
    • Lifeboat No. 8 by Elizabeth Kaye (short, interesting, factual read on the story of the survivors of one of the lifeboats from the Titanic)
    • Sober is my new drunk by Paul Carr (another short, interesting read on how he stopped drinking cold turkey... and why he doesn't believe in the AA's "12 step" program... Interesting story that's probably not applicable to all of us, but the general theme of the book is about do what works for you...)
    • The Demise of Guys by Philip Zimbardo & Nikita Duncan (verrry interesting... this might explain why guys text instead of preferring one-on-one convos.  Highly recommend it...)
So.  7 days left, and 11 items left to complete and blog about.  Gee, I don't procrastinate, do I? :)

If you're in the area, come by on Wednesday July 4 for a BBQ before the Macy's Fireworks Show!!!
